Okay, if you reached your favourite car's rank you can ask here for your rank to permanently be that car. You can also ask for it to be changed back to normal rank progression. You'll progress in ranks even when your visible one is set, but it just won't show. To keep yourself as a car you need at least the following postcount:
SMOKE: 1 post
EVAC: 2 posts
BUS: 3 posts
COOP: 5 posts
BUG: 10 posts
ENFORCER: 20 posts
REDNECK: 30 posts
BANANA: 50 posts
MONSTER: 75 posts
VEGAS: 100 posts
IGNITION: 200 posts
You can also ask to join the certain usergroup of the cars whenever you have the required postcount. Being on a car's group will change your name color into that car's specific color.
EXAMPLE: YodelBullet had over 5 posts and he wanted to stay as the Coop rank. Even if he was Bug at that time, his rank once was Coop so I made it stay like that. His posts will advance and if he decides to make it stop being Coop he'll be the certain rank he should have gotten. YodelBullet also requested to join the Coop Group, and I let him in. It's that simple!
